The Akron Soccer League was founded in 1979 in an attempt to develop youth soccer in
Akron, New York . Akron Soccer, or better known as ASL, strives to develop physical and mental growth; teaching teamwork with an emphasis on sportsmanship. ASL provides an opportunity for the players to achieve the highest level of individual and team soccer development, within their realm of capability.
PROGRAM(S):
The Akron Soccer League also provides two different levels of development and competition. Our recreation program, also known as the In-House Program, concentrates on the younger age groups (4yrs old – 14 yrs old) with an emphasis on fun and a concentration on development, not competition. This program draws over three hundred (300) children from the
Akron and surrounding areas each year.
Our competition program, also known as the Travel Program, focuses on providing a higher level of skilled competition, competing with other teams from
Buffalo and surrounding areas. The Travel Program is sanctioned by New York State West, which competes against teams registered with the Buffalo Western New York Junior Soccer League. We currently have eleven (11) teams ranging from Under Ten (10) Boys & Girls, to Under nineteen (19) Girls. These teams can be viewed in our Travel Program Section.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING:
ASL also provides professional training to all teams for both the In House and travel Programs. Currently, we have contracted MLS Red Bulls to provide the training for the 2007 seasons. Every year, based upon performance, we evaluate our trainers and if needed replace them with better training programs.
KICK IT FIRST TOURNAMENT:
Akron Soccer League has also developed the annual “Kick It First” Tournament, which brings in over 180 teams from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Canada. This tournament is held the first weekend of May. More Info on the tournament please click here.
