Welcome to the Akron Soccer League

The Akron Soccer League has been serving the community since 1980. We are a nonprofit organization where around 500 children participate in both an in-house and travel program.

The Akron Soccer League philosophy encourages positive self-esteem, personal responsibility, teamwork, acceptance of and learning from disappointment and success, as well as perseverance. We believe that quality soccer can and should be developed, and that it should be fun. Therefore, the emphasis of our program is not on who wins, but how the players and teams develop, and most importantly, did they have fun in doing so. We want all participants to reach their full potential and to enjoy themselves in the process.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE 7th Annual Kick It First Tournament...

It is that time of the year once again, Kick It First In Akron.  THIS year we accepted 188 teams from surrounding towns and states.  Teams were registered from Pennsylvania, Ohio and even Canada, which classifies us as a International Tournament.  For information please visit our Tournament Section.

NEWS - Andy Tiedt Makes Sports Illustrated
Posted 2/1/08

It all began as a dream for Andy Tiedt, who sat watching his older brothers Chris and Mark play the game, while standing on the sidelines.  Chris and Mark gave him inspiration, which has ultimately made him the player he is today.

Andy began his career in Akron at the age of eight (8) playing under the direction of his father Bob Tiedt, who has been a coach for Akron for the past fifteen (15) years.  In previous seasons Andy has managed to bring two (2) league championships and over five (5) tournament championships to Akron, thee (3) of which have been Akron’s own Kick It First.   VIEW ARTICLE.

N.Y.S. West Promotes Small Sided Games...
Posted 10/18

WHY SMALL SIDED GAMES?

Small-sided games have been part of our soccer history in the United States for generations. Many of our parents, our grandparents and our great grandparents immigrated to America having played this wonderful game in the streets of their native countries.

Small-sided games are games played on smaller fields and with fewer players than the adult game of 11 versus 11. Games of 3 versus 3, 4 versus 3 and 4 versus 4 are examples of small-sided game numbers. As you can see, playing numbers can be even or uneven and the game can be played.
