Akron Team WINS 1st Place

The Akron Attackers played Orchard Park in the Championship game and came out Victorious! In a 2-0 domination the team stopped them for the entire 80 minutes with a stifling defense lead by Emily Papke and an amazing goal tending performance by Shannon Winney, in a statement made by Cassidee Welch "she owned that net".  With the offenses relentless attack the ATTACKERS took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd half and never looked back. Goal #2 was scored by Kaitlyn Kauffman the icebreaker goal was scored early in the 2nd half with a rocket shot by Nina Komosinski. This great team was led by coach Pat Winney and Mark Marchese. The Akron Soccer League would like to congratulate the Attackers on a great season! Way to go girls!

Welcome to the Akron Soccer League

The Akron Soccer League has been serving the community since 1980. We are a nonprofit organization where around 500 children participate in both an in-house and travel program.

The Akron Soccer League philosophy encourages positive self-esteem, personal responsibility, teamwork, acceptance of and learning from disappointment and success, as well as perseverance. We believe that quality soccer can and should be developed, and that it should be fun. Therefore, the emphasis of our program is not on who wins, but how the players and teams develop, and most importantly, did they have fun in doing so. We want all participants to reach their full potential and to enjoy themselves in the process.

N.Y.S. West Promotes Small Sided Games...
Posted 10/18

WHY SMALL SIDED GAMES?

Small-sided games have been part of our soccer history in the United States for generations. Many of our parents, our grandparents and our great grandparents immigrated to America having played this wonderful game in the streets of their native countries.

Small-sided games are games played on smaller fields and with fewer players than the adult game of 11 versus 11. Games of 3 versus 3, 4 versus 3 and 4 versus 4 are examples of small-sided game numbers. As you can see, playing numbers can be even or uneven and the game can be played.
